Mogadishu , Somalia REPORT ON CODE OF CONDUCT TRAINING WORKSHOP

Introduction

This was the summary made training workshop to promote the capacity of women journalists and to all women media practitioners .

This workshop on Ethical code of Conduct was a fellow up of three previous training workshops Somali Women Journalists has implemented in three main regions : Banadir region, Bay and Hiran.

In Mogadishu , Professional Ethics Training was held in the period between 6-11 October 2007.

  IIn Baidoa, Training on Media and Democracy was implemented 13 to 18 of April 2007

  In Beletwein , Media participation and decision making was implemented 23 to 28 of June 2007 by SOWJA

During the six days workshop the participants were given sessions on topics of basic skills of journalism, ethics , the role of media in promoting peace and development in the society, role of the media in reconciliation and peace building, enhancing and empowering women journalists with ethics of journalism and ethical code of conduct.

The workshop was carrying out in participative approach facilitating the trainees to act together and contribute in discussion.

The workshop was implemented by Somali Women Journalists Association and funded by National Endowment For Democracy.
